Review Broken Promise – Linwood Barclay

Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to review ARC of this new book by Linwood Barclay

Broken Promise takes us back to Promise Falls and is told from multiple points of view; the story focuses on David Harwood’s (previously introduced in Never Look Away) cousin, Marla and the loss of her baby alongside the brutal murder of a local woman and her missing baby.
The book has a number of twists and a sub plot which leaves us with unanswered questions at the end which leads nicely into the next book in the series.
I found the delivery of this book slower than his previous books and there were a number of characters with dark pasts and secrets which I’m sure will unfold with the series. Confusing at times jumping between characters and plots but pacy enough to hold the readers interest
Overall a great read for those looking for some mystery and suspense
