The Devil’s Knock – Douglas Skelton

Davie McCall’s internal darkness just gets darker. The 3rd in the series, The Devil’s Knock is a well deserved 5 stars.
Gang war on the Glasgow streets of the mid1990s – once again this book just drags you screaming into the midst of the bloodshed and through the darker side of the city.
Douglas Skelton has the knack of bringing the streets and the characters alive – you feel yourself recoil in horror at the rotting corpse of a drug addict in squalor and drawn to the inner turmoil of Davie McCall as he fights his demons. You pull your jacket tighter to keep out the bitter cold of the Glasgow streets, you smell the stale beer in the dodgy pubs where the deals are done – and you feel the pain of every victim as they meet their grisly end.
A must for fans of tartan noir, crime and Glaswegian crime in particular – a well deserved 5 stars!
