You Belong to Me – Samantha Hayes

Creepy psychological thriller that both intrigues you and chills you to the bone.

Isobel Moore, a beautiful red headed art teacher is caught up in a whirlwind romance with Felix Darwin, but there’s something not quite right about him and his obsessive love for her. She’s also not his first. Forced to flee to India to escape his obsession for her, Isobel receives news that her parents have been killed in a car crash and Felix was driving the car and is now in a coma. She returns to England to find out what happened and to ensure that Felix truly can no longer harm her but she can’t shake off the feeling that someone is watching her.

DI Fisher is forced to take some leave from the force due to stress, she is haunted by the murder of a young woman who. had come to the police for help, in fear for her life from a man obsessed with her, she can’t let this go and continues her own investigation into the murder.

This book is a fast moving tale of obsessive and twisted love, mind control and psychological terror are at the forefront throughout the book, I found myself unable to put this book down and got wrapped up in the terror that Isobel faced – it shows the hold that an abuser can have over their victim even when you think they can’t hurt them anymore.

The characters enthralled me – frustration at their actions, willing them to do something different, fear for their lives and heart in my mouth as the story unfolded. By the end of the book I felt I was losing my mind.

Superb twists throughout the book, throwing you off the scent at every step – you really don’t know if you are coming or going…but believe me you won’t want to miss a page! well deserved 4 stars from me!
