What if everything you thought you knew about 7/7 bombings in London was in fact a lie.
The Theseus Paradox is a novel written by former Scotland Yard Investigator, David Videcette, who worked on the London bombings. His involvement is evident throughout the book and at times I was unsure if I was reading a novel or watching a documentary, each page, word and chapter felt chillingly real.
DI Jake Flannigan is the main character and a bit of a bad boy he is too – as well as the pressures of his role he has his own complex personal life to contend with and this leads to him finding solace at the bottom of a bottle or in the bed of women he meets when out drinking. Jake is a bit of a rogue cop – he bends or completely ignores the rules in pursuit of the truth. Yet he’s not a stereotypical bad cop – you know his character has got to be based on some real people out there.
This story is expertly brought to life by David Videcette and the reader is left to decide what parts are fact and what are fiction, it’s an engrossing read and a fantastic debut novel and I for one am looking forward to reading the next book with Jake Flanagan as lead. Highly recommended.
