Without Trace – Simon Booker – 4 stars

Thank you to Netgalley for my ARC in return for an honest review.

This is the first in a new crime series by Simon Booker and introduces journalist, Morgan Vine, longstanding friend of Danny Kicannon whose conviction for murder has just been over turned.

Every page of this book takes you on another twist and turn, New evidence is found, false leads are given and characters gain and lose your trust along the way.

Just who can you trust? This book stood out for me because there was no easy way to guess “who-dunnit” – one minute you are backing one character and the next you had them guilty and sentenced. I wondered how Simon would manage to tie all this up – but don’t worry it does and fantastically so!

Morgan Vine is a tough lead character and I’m looking forward to the next in the series. My only gripe was that the police gave her details of the case throughout the book – which as a mother of a missing person involved and a journalist I don’t think would happen (however this in no way detracts from the enjoyment of the book)
