The Dead Don’t Boogie – Douglas Skelton

Well the Dead might not boogie but Dominic Queste led this reader on a fantastic dance through some of her favourite haunts and provided a body count that was off the scale!Bloody brilliant start to Douglas Skelton’s new series (so I may yet forgive him for making me greet with Davie McCall!)

The Dead Don’t Boogie takes us from Saltcoats to the gritty East End of Glasgow as Dominic Queste tracks down a missing girl – leading to murder and mayhem with the Glasgow gallows humour that Douglas has got down to a T! No matter how gruesome the murders and how violent the gangsters, Glasgow can always inject a black humour into the mix and Douglas captures this perfectly! So I gasped and laughed at the same time.

Dominic Queste is going to be an intriguing character to follow in this new series – he’s lighter hearted than Davie McCall but as usual Douglas Skelton has produced some Glasgow crime writing at its best!

Would highly recommend this book (along with the others written by Douglas Skelton)
