OK, it will be no surprise to anyone who knows me to hear that I am #Buzzin #Buzzin #Buzzin to have been asked by Karen Sullivan of Orenda Books to host the #COVERREVEAL for one of my FAVOURITE authors – Michael J Malone and his new novel #HouseOfSpines – #OMG does that title not just send the shivers down your spine and give you goosebumps on your goosebumps – because it did to me! So just wait to you read the blurb and see the gorgeous cover for this new book…It’s one I need on my #Bookshelf for sure!
As I said, Michael is one of my favourite authors and not just because he is Scottish and I’m a confirmed #ScottishAuthorStalker! But also because he has written some of the best books I have read over the years…and I am talking seriously good books! All my reviews for Michael’s books can be found here on my blog! As well as being a fantastic author, Michael is one of the nicest guys you are going to meet – he is a real gentleman and possesses an intelligence and charm that will win you over from the start!
Michael Malone was born and brought up in the heart of Burns’ country, just a stone’s throw from the great man’s cottage in Ayr. Well, a stone thrown by a catapult, maybe.
He has published over 200 poems in literary magazines throughout the UK, including New Writing Scotland, Poetry Scotland and Markings. His career as a poet has also included a (very) brief stint as the Poet-In-Residence for an adult gift shop. Don’t ask.
BLOOD TEARS, his debut novel won the Pitlochry Prize (judge:Alex Gray) from the Scottish Association of Writers and when it was published he added a “J” to his name to differentiate it from the work of his talented U.S. namesake.

So not only do I have Michael as one of my favourite authors but this book is also being published by one of my #TopPublishers #OrendaBooks – I swear that Karen Sullivan has a sixth sense when it comes to my reading habits – every Orenda published book I have read has wowed me! And Karen is one of the most hard-working, committed women in the business – she has a real passion for what she does and it shines out of her and she is a massive support to the #BloggingCommunity!
So anyway, I hear you shout – enough of your gabbing get on with it….
To tickle your taste buds here is the blurb:
House of Spines
Ran McGhie’s world has been turned upside down. A young, lonely and frustrated writer, and suffering from mental-health problems, he discovers that his long-dead mother was related to one of Glasgow’s oldest merchant families. Not only that, but Ran has inherited Newton Hall, a vast mansion that belonged to his great-uncle, who appears to have been watching his estranged great-nephew from afar. Entering his new-found home, Ran finds that Great-Uncle Fitzpatrick has turned it into a temple to the written word – the perfect place for the young poet. But everything is not as it seems. As he explores the Hall’s endless corridors, Ran’s grasp on reality appears to be loosening. And then he comes across an ancient lift, and in that lift a mirror. And in the mirror … the reflection of a woman…
A terrifying psychological thriller with more than a hint of the Gothic, House of Spines is a love letter to the power of books, and an exploration of how lust and betrayal can be deadly…
Now that got me hooked right away and then when I caught sight of the cover – I was reeled in, hook line and sinker and I am sure that you will be too!
So are you sitting comfortably….
Are you ready for this….
I just know you are going to LOVE it!
What did I tell you! It is fab, isn’t it! Need this book in my life, on my shelf and devoured by my eyes!
#HouseofSpines will be out in September this year so watch this space!
