It almost feels like I’m resident in the Argyle Street Branch of Waterstones at times and I’m not complaining as I love this store! Anyway, tonight I had the pleasure of moderating a panel of very fine authors for an evening of Gothic conversation!

MJM Waterstones

Michael J Malone, Anthony O’Neill and Charles E McGarry came together on the night before Halloween to talk about their latest novels, “The House of Spines”; “Dr Jekyll and Mr Seek” and “The Ghost of Helen Addison”.

Anyone would have thought that these guys had colour co-ordinated their book covers for the event!

It was great to see such a good turn out on a Monday night, so many people came to support the authors. The crowd were waiting in anticipation for a night of supernatural tales and strange goings on and the authors did not disappoint!

After a brief introduction to their books, the grilling began. Well, a gentle questioning really!

We talked about everything from research to ghostly experiences; from character development to mental health; from tackling a sequel to a great classic to which character the authors would take to spend a night in a haunted house!

It’s always a pleasure to get inside the head of a writer and tonight was no exception. If you have never been to a book launch before then I’d highly recommend you go along to one. They really are insightful, thought-provoking and damn good fun!
