#BlogTour: Descent to Hell: Nic Parker @NicParkerAuthor

Decent to Hell Cover.jpgGood morning everyone! This morning I am delighted to be sharing this post on behalf of the gorgeous Emmathelittlebookworm who is unable to take part due to personal reasons.

I have a character spotlight on Lucifer, the Ruler of Hell and OMG reading this spotlight scared the bejesus out of me in a twisted kind of way because I also wanted to get to know Lucifer a little bit better! But first of all here’s a little about the book and the author, Nic Parker.

What the blurb says:

A man forced to enter mankind’s most feared territory…a child dragged into the underworld!

When Charlie Ward’s beloved niece is kidnapped by an atrocious demon he has to find the secret gateway into the one place every human wants to stay away from Hell!

Armed only with courage and determination Charlie has to survive in a forbidding place filled with despair and anguish. He must face challenges no mortal should ever have to undergo that threaten to destroy his very soul.

About the author:

Nic Parker was born in 1971.

Her love for the horror genre flourished in early childhood. She enjoyed the opulence of genre productions in the eighties, chasing after forbidden video nasties with friends, and reading mainly Clive Barker and Stephen King.

Since her twenties, she’s had the pleasure of meeting and interviewing many household names from the horror genre in her role as a journalist for Moviestar magazine.

She is an avid book collector, passionate about art and likes to try out new recipes from her many cookbooks.

Parker lives in rural Germany with her husband, enslaved by six cats.

‘Descent to Hell’ is the first part in the Hell trilogy with main character Charlie Ward.

So are you ready for the character spotlight? Well, sit right back and let me introduce you to Lucifer Morningstar!

Character Spotlight on Lucifer Morningstar

Job: Ruler of Hell, First of the Fallen, CEO of ‘downstairs’

Relationship status: It’s complicated

Kids: Don’t be ridiculous

When did you create them? Where? How?

When the idea of Descent to Hell started brewing in my brain I already knew Lucifer was one of the main characters. I wanted him to be traditional enough so he would feel almost like an old friend to the readers, but also different to many other depictions of the Morningstar, so I would have created my own unique handsome devil.

Did you write the book to accommodate the character or the character to accommodate the book?

Neither. My vision of Hell was totally different from what many have come to known and/or will expect the underworld to look like. My Lucifer had to be more like a modern time CEO of a chaotic huge company and being tired of it, a bit like Gordon Gecko of Hell but with a heart.

What do you like most about them?

Lucifer is, excuse the pun, a charming devil. He shows character traits that are very human that readers can relate to. He has to run this dark empire but his influence is not like it was aeons ago and that makes him angry and frustrated about work, something a lot of us know only too well. Also, I like that he learns from past mistakes and despite his slyness, he is not the evil creature many think he should represent.

What do you like least about them?

That he is keeping grudges (I know that feeling all too well), that he can be extremely ruthless and that his own agenda always comes first.

Did your early readers/editorial team like them to start with or did you have to change them in any way?

Lucifer is probably the only character in the book everybody liked from the start. He is an absolute favourite with the ladies.

Do they have any similarities with anyone real? Who? What? Why?

I wanted Lucifer to exude the male elegance of old Hollywood and I had the gorgeous British actor Matthew Goode in mind when describing him.

What are your plans for them?

Lucifer will be in both sequels to Descent to Hell though I can’t give too much away because then I’d spoiler vital parts of the storyline. Lucifer will go through a learning process, and he will find that even if you think you’ve been clever old mistakes will eventually come round to bite you in the bum!

Would you be friends in real life?

Definitely! Lucifer is a very cool guy.

Wowzers! Can I get his number, please! Now go and check out the rest of the awesome bloggers on the tour!
