Well, what a way to spend St Andrews Day! Noir at the Bar, Edinburgh held their 5th event on a biting cold Scottish winter night but the criminal crowd gathered in The Canon’s Gate, soon generated enough heat and warmth to keep us all cosy for the evening!

Of course, you cannot start to talk about NATB, Edinburgh without mentioning the most wonderful and welcoming host, DR Noir herself, Jacky Collins! This woman’s energy and passion for the crime writing community knows no bounds. She never fails to give anyone the warmest of welcomes at these events, whether you have met her twenty times or for the very first time, you will instantly know that you have found a friend!

Despite the cold weather, a fair crowd turned up to see the readers of the night and the crowd were treated to an evening of spellbinding readings from some of the most talented writers, from Claire MacLeary who had the audience in stitches with Big Wilma’s (“Cross Purpose”) exploits (who would have known such language could come from a woman as well bred as Claire! I am always glad that I turned up at her book launch late last year and got to know her) to Alan Jones making his debut at NATB with his reading of the prologue of “Blue Wicked”. He certainly left the audience wanting more! Check out my live Facebook post of his reading over here

And of course, it was a special NATB as it was my annual #TwinniesOnTour event as the brilliant Noelle Crimebookjunkie and myself met up again for some criminality and shenanigans!

It was also the first time since the Bloody Scotland #PartnersInCrime (minus a couple of faces!) had met up since Stirling, so myself, Alan and Noelle were delighted to be reunited.

And thanks to Noelle I now have a new tipple, Rhubarb Gin and Ginger Ale! Yummmmm.

Shenanigans were aplenty last night, with birthday celebrations for the gorgeous Kelly over at #LoveBooksGroup and an impromptu night out for #Twinnie and I with avid reader Livia and the most entertaining Mr Ian Skewis (author of Murder of Crows). My jaws are still aching today from laughing!

I’ll leave you with some pics of an amazing night!

What a night! Here’s to #NATBEdin6 in 2018!
