My Top Reads 2017.jpg

That time of year already! Where did 2017 go? It flew by in a flurry of amazing reads that’s where it went! This means that this year my #TopReads was even more difficult to narrow down! So, me being me, and as it’s my blog then it’s my rules! So I have more than one list this year (again!)

To be honest I think I am really lucky and I have been in the position to read and review some astounding books and these lists could have been so much longer!  But anyway I have done my best and so here we go!

Today I’m going to give you my top 5 series of 2017 (click the book title to see my reviews)

Top Five Series of the Year

Dark IcelandRagnar Jonasson (Published by Orenda Books): my first journey into Icelandic Noir and what an introduction. (Snowblind NightblindBlackout Rupture and Whiteout). Dark and atmospheric, these novels will have you shivering in fear under your blankets!

The Mechanic Trilogy from Rob Ashman (Published by Bloodhound Books) this crazy Welshman pinged my email early last year with an email that made me laugh as soon as I read it and anyone who can achieve that on a shite Monday morning deserves my attention! And boy am I glad that I took Rob up on his offer to read his Mechanic Trilogy (Those That Remain; In Your Name; Pay The Penance Rob’s email might have made me laugh but this man has one sick mind! Superb series, awesome guy and not only did I find a new writer I found a new friend!

DCI Matilda Darke series from Michael Wood. This is one of those little gems of a series that everyone should be seeking to uncover Exceptional plots, superb character development and twists and turns galore. For Reasons Unknown   Outside Looking In  A Room Full of Killers

Alexandra Sokoloff’s books had been on my radar for such a long time that I’m ashamed that it took me so long to read them! But I can guarantee that The Huntress series (published by Thomas & Mercer)  was well worth the wait. A serial killer with a difference and a powerful social commentary had me hooked from the outset! This is a series that you should NOT miss! Huntress Moon; Blood Moon; Cold Moon; Bitter Moon; Hunger Moon

Rachel Amphlett wowed me with her Kay Hunter series and it is one that just keeps getting better and better! With a complex and compelling character in Detective Kay Hunter, Rachel has created a winning combination: Scared to Death; Will to Live; One to Watch and Hell to Pay

There were obviously so many other fabulous series that I read over the year and I’d love to include each and every one of them!
