Welcome to #TimeForCrime a new series here at Chapterinmylife.

I am inviting bloggers and authors talk about their favourite subject crime, with a set of quick-fire Q&As taking you to the dark heart of the person behind the book or the blog!

This week I am delighted to welcome Karen from Hairpastafreckle

Name: Karen Cole

About you: I live in Dorset with my husband, three daughters, dog, cat, rabbit and tortoise. When I’m not reading or writing about books for my blog, Hair Past A Freckle I work in a primary school as a teaching assistant and midday supervisor.

Now, let’s delve into the depths of Karen’s mind…

Why crime fiction? So many reasons! I love how the best crime novels shine a light on humanity and what people, good and bad, are capable of. Like many people I enjoy being safely scared of something – rollercoasters are a no-no but a twisted psychopath in a book is irresistible!  And I love the puzzles – trying to work out whodunnit!

Favourite book you have reviewed  – It’s hard to pick just one (so I’ve chosen two!) I adored The Man Who Died by Antti Tuomainen and Block 46 by Johana Gustawsson last year.

You are stranded on a desert island, you can take one book, what will it be – I’ve been meaning to read Fyodor Dostoevsky’s Crime and Punishment for years so assuming I’m not allowed the collected works of Agatha Christie or the Sherlock Holmes Canon, I’ll take that.

Do you have a kill list and who is on it? – Not up till now but you’ve got me thinking!

Top criminal (real or fiction) Raphael from The Final Testimony of Raphael Ignatius Phoenix by Paul Sussman, He’s a serial killer but I ended up cheering for him.

Top fictional detective –  I’m torn between Ari Thór Arason from Ragnar Jonasson’s Dark Iceland series and Esa Khattak from Ausma Zehanat Khan’s books.

Planner or pantser/organised or beautifully chaotic – Thank you for saying my chaos is beautiful  😉

Favourite method of murder – The best I’ve read involved a motorised scooter and a pack of dogs in Richard Parker’s Follow You…

Best place to dispose a body – I spotted the perfect place near Loch Fyne when we were on holiday in Scotland last year. My husband was a little taken aback when I pointed it out to him!

Where can we find you? (Oh your blog details, dafty, any personal haunts send them to me privately!) My blog Hair Past A Freckle can be found at https://hairpastafreckle72.blogspot.co.uk/ and I’m on Twitter as @karlou

Thank you so much for joining me Karen! I think all chaos is beautiful and get working on that kill list! I could give you some names from mine 😉

If you haven’t checked out Karen’s blog then why not head over now and check it out!
