Soon, the dark winter nights and cold nip in the air will be a distant memory. The clocks went back at the weekend and the nights are getting lighter! So in memory of cold and miserable winter and in anticipation of a warm and sunny summer, I thought I’d give you my highlights so far and what I’m looking forward to next!

HIGHLIGHTS

It’s only April and already what a year it has been in the bookish world! Thirty one books read, it is so very difficult to bring you my highlight reads of the year so far! But I will try!

Caro Ramsay’s “Rat Run” was my first read of 2019 and what a start to the year! Check out my review here

Earlier this year I had the pleasure of interviewing Kimberley Chambers in Waterstones, Sauchiehall St, for the launch of The Sting. I bloody loved it! Check my highlights of the interview and my review here

Thunder Bay was the long awaited publication from Douglas Skelton published by Polygon Books. This one has been taking the Scottish crime fiction scene by storm. You really don’t want to miss it! Check out my review here

Steve Cavanagh is currently on fire! His books are superb and Twisted is the latest work from this genius! Well worth a read! My review will be out in May (as part of the blog tour) but I’m telling you now, catch yourself on, and get it read! You can buy it here!

Bloody January from Alan Parks is a debut novel from this highly talented Scottish writer. It had been on my shelf for a while and I was not disappointed! Check out my review here

So what books am I recommending that you really must buy in the next few months?

Dead Inside is the debut novel coming from ex Probation Officer, Top Blogger, Social Media Manager for Bookouture and my #Twinnie, Noelle Holten. Due out on the 30th May, this one is a must read for all you crime fiction fans! You can pre-order it here now!

Call Me Star Girl is the latest novel from Louise Beech, this one will blow your socks off. Newly published from a writer who can turn her hand to any genre and always leaves me with all my emotions in turmoil! You can purchase it here now!

Another writing genius, who refuses to be constrained by genres is Scottish author, Doug Johnstone and his latest novel, Breakers, is just sitting waiting to fall into my lap very soon. You can buy it here now.

I couldn’t possibly do a “what to look out for” list without mentioning the AWESOME Susie Lynes could I? This woman has magic flowing from her fingertips and is one of my all time favourite writers ever! Her fifth psychological thriller, The Women, will be published on the 22nd May. You can pre-order it here right now though!

The Closer I Get by Paul Burston, is burning a hole in my brain already. I’ve been listening to the blogger feedback and this one is possibly going to be my next read! Due to be published on the 11th May, this one is going to be sending some shivers down a few spines! Pre-order your copy here now!

It was pretty hard to narrow this down to such a small list, I really could have gone on and on for hours about all the fab books I’ve read as well as the ones I’m looking forward to! I’d love to hear what your bookish highlights have been so far and what you are looking forward to over the next few months…
