I do love a book launch and a double Orenda event is always a treat! The sun had come out in Glasgow to welcome Doug Johnstone and Helen Fitzgerald to Waterstones Sauchiehall St. for the launch of Breakers and Worst Case Scenario.
Today was also a very special day for one of my blogger buddies! Mary over at LiveAndDeadly was celebrating a special birthday, so we kicked off the book launch day in style with a little afternoon tea at the Carlton George Hotel Windows Restaurant. Situated on the 7th floor with stunning views over the city we were lucky enough to bag a rooftop table! This is a little hidden gem in the city and well worth a visit if you are in town! A special thank you to all the staff who could not have been any more attentive or helpful.
Suitably stuffed and happily watered with pink gin we made our way to Waterstones. Another wee surprise for Mary with a cake, card and flowers from Waterstones and Orenda! This lady deserves lots of lovely things!
The event was a hoot as was to be expected with Doug and Helen. If you were there looking for lofty literary language with no profanity and inappropriateness then you were probably in the wrong place: writing processes; mutual stalking; pedophile romcoms and menopausal noir were all up for grabs in this whirlwind hour inside the minds of two bloody brilliant writers! If you have never heard them at an event then get yourself along to one of their many events happening over the summer…you won’t regret it!
