I’m delighted to be sharing my thoughts on Louise Jensen’s latest novel, The Stolen Sisters.
Before I share my thoughts, here’s what the official blurb says:
Three little girls missing. One family torn apart…
Leah’s perfect marriage isn’t what it seems but the biggest lie of all is that she’s learned to live with what happened all those years ago. Marie drinks a bit too much to help her forget. And Carly has never forgiven herself for not keeping them safe.
Twenty years ago these three sisters were taken. What came after they disappeared was far worse. It should have brought them together, but how can a family ever recover?
Especially when not everyone is telling the truth . . .
Well, I’ve just had to lie down after devouring Stolen Sisters from Louise Jensen. Having read all of her other books, I know what a dark and twisted mind this author has but I honestly think Stolen Sisters has just kicked that ball right out of the park! Oh My Lord! I wish I had worn a fit bit reading this as I’d have loved to known what my heart rate was reading during this! Talk about a page turner, a can’t put it down-er, a just one more chapter-er…this one was all of them and beyond!
Louise Jensen has more than proved herself to be an outstanding storyteller and in The Stolen Sisters she firmly fixes the storytelling crown on for good I think! It has everything; the hook to pull you in; a cast of characters who consume your life from the minute you meet them; the emotional fiddle she has you playing as you invest your life in their lives and their story; the tension as each page ramps it up a notch, God, I’m even getting an increased heart rate writing this review as I remember the story and the twists, after twists after twists and God those twists are bloody good!
Cleverly crafted and the plotting is sublime; each character tells their story from the past and the present, and the story is slowly revealed, the trauma disclosed and the truth uncovered. The destruction of lives, the lasting impact of adverse childhood experiences is deftly laid out and it is impossible to read this book and not be completely immersed in the story!
An absorbing, twisted, dark and emotional rollercoaster that will appeal to fans of psychological thrillers. I could go on for hours about how much I LOVED this book but I want you all to go out and experience it for yourselves. Probably my FAVOURITE book from Louise Jensen yet! It gave me ALL the feels!
