I LOVE Casey Kelleher’s books and I adore the DC Lucy Murphy series and I am delighted to be taking part on the #BooksOnTour for #NoGoingBack.I’m also one of the bloggers closing down this tour for this AMAZING book!

Before I share my thoughts, here’s what the official blurb says:

A child has been taken. A family is out for revenge.

Riley Cooke is just one day old when he is stolen from the hospital. His young mother, Shelby, is beside herself. DC Lucy Murphy and her team face a race against time to find the vulnerable baby and bring him home – before the child’s grandfather, fearsome gangster Pete Baker, takes matters into his own hands.

Pete is sure he knows who’s behind baby Riley’s abduction, and he thinks they ought to pray Lucy finds them before he does. Because someone is going to pay dearly for causing this much pain to his family.

They say never stand between a gangster and his target. But that’s exactly what Lucy must do – because if Pete is wrong, innocent blood could flow.

My thoughts:

No Going Back…well that’s exactly the feeling I was left with when I picked up this book and started to read. Talk about an opening hook! Talk about impact! Talk about grabbing you and dragging you straight into those pages leaving you desperate to read just one more chapter before you go to sleep!

Casey Kelleher really knows how to entice her readers and keep them reading and in the 3rd in the DC Lucy Murphy series, she proves once again to be the queen of killer hooks! With child abduction and gritty gang life on the Griffin Estate, the shocks just keep coming.

Lucy is one of those characters who is just so perfectly captivating.  From the beginning of this series she has drawn me into her world. The series feels more than a police procedural/gritty gangland thriller, there is a very real sense of a small but tight knit community of characters who create a world in which I easily find myself immersed: almost like a soap opera in pages.

As I read this series, I feel I’ve really got to know Lucy and it’s like I’m looking out for her as I read. She’s a survivor and she’s strong without being bitter and it’s her experience that gives her the connection with the people she comes across in her life.

Once again the storyline is cleverly thought out, with drama, tensions, twists and some heart stopping moments. Casey Kelleher really does know how to portray a sense of authenticity when it comes to her characters; not only do we have the dynamics between Lucy and her colleagues; she also shows us some of the real underbelly of society mixed with the gangs that are rife across our cities. Amongst it all there are also some real poignant and tender parts as Lucy’s past begins to rear its ugly head again and her gran’s dementia progresses.

You can read this as a standalone but you will miss out on so much of Lucy’s life and her past which drive her in everything that she does and it’s such a good series to read, that I would recommend you read them anyway!

So beware folks, pick up this book at bedtime and be prepared for no more sleep because once you open it up, there really is no going back!
