Here at Chapterinmylife, I am always happy to accept books for review. Any reviews I provide are only my opinion and are always constructive. I will try my best to explain what it was I enjoyed about the book or why it was not to my taste.
I understand the effort and work that goes into writing a book so would always be respectful in my reviews and never overly negative.
I have recently made the decision to drop star ratings from my blog posts/reviews (I will still adhere to these on GoodReads and Amazon) as I don’t feel they have any particular value. I have been feeling uncomfortable for some time now using star ratings as I feel they are extremely subjective. When I read reviews I want to know how the book made the reader feel, what it is about, how the plot, pace and characters all work together. I have made the decision to base my book reviews on that criteria. I would hope that by reading my reviews, in which I try to cover plot, pace, place, themes, characters and how the book made ME feel, would be enough of an indication to let readers know whether I loved, liked or didn’t so much like a book 🙂

*I am always happy to hear from publishers and authors about books and books received will be read/reviewed, however, I cannot guarantee a timeframe unless we discuss and agree on a particular date for the post. My blog isn’t my job, it’s my passion and what I do in my spare time (I do work full time and despite the amount of reading I do, I do other things in addition to reading and reviewing – not much but some!)
*I will consider all requests but I may not be able to accept them all. Please don’t take it personally if I cannot review your book. In an ideal world, I’d be reading 24/7 and still never get through all the books I want to!

My bag is Crime and more crime! In particular, I enjoy Scottish Crime Fiction – I have been known to stalk a few Scottish authors in my time! I am particularly supportive of new/lesser known authors. I read the following:
